Existing services and leadership retained

The incoming firm will operate as neo Dr. Carl + Partners Steuerberatungsgesellschaft mbH. neo says all of its business areas and services will continue, with clients retaining their existing contacts while gaining access to the group's broader network of specialists.

Prof. Dr. Matthias Carl, Markus Singer and Heinz Walterspacher will remain in charge of the unit as managing partners. According to the firm's website, Carl was appointed an honorary professor of taxes and accounting in the Faculty of Business at Hochschule Ansbach on November 29, 2022.

Dr. Carl & Partner is based in Ansbach's Technologiepark and also has an office in Feuchtwangen. Its website describes a mid-sized partnership combining auditors, tax advisers and attorneys that serves clients nationwide. The firm moved from Ansbach's Promenade to its new Technologiepark building in 2018.

neo describes the firm as an established regional provider serving companies, families and private clients. While the merger announcement cites more than 70 employees joining neo, Dr. Carl & Partner's website separately lists 14 professionals and about 80 additional qualified employees.

Legal services move into a separate company

Legal advice is a new business area for neo and will be housed in neo Legal GmbH. Nicolina Braun and Dr. Florian Körber, previously managing partners at Dr. Carl & Partner, will serve as its managing directors. The legal practice's full range of services will be retained.

Braun said the separate company would allow the legal team to continue its work while coordinating more closely with tax advisers and auditors. Körber said tax, business and legal issues frequently overlap for mid-sized companies, making an integrated approach within the group beneficial for clients.

A larger network in Franconia

The merger follows neo's establishment of offices in Fürth and Nuremberg and is its largest expansion in Franconia so far. In September 2026, before Dr. Carl & Partner joined, neo reported about 200 employees at 11 locations.

Michael Kreitinger, neo Kanzlei's executive partner, described the merger as a milestone for the group. He said the additional team strengthens neo's presence in Franconia and throughout Bavaria, while the new legal business advances its ambition to be the "HOME OF MITTELSTAND."

According to neo, clients will gain access to new digital service channels as well as a wider pool of tax, audit and legal expertise. Closer cooperation with the Fürth and Nuremberg offices will support work on complex tax and legal matters and services for clients operating across regions.

For employees joining from Dr. Carl & Partner, neo points to joint training, access to modern technology and opportunities to exchange expertise with colleagues at other locations. The group says these opportunities will come without replacing the contacts and structures familiar to clients.

A series of integrations backed by expansion financing

neo began as a tax advisory firm in Cham, Bavaria, and had reached 10 Bavarian locations by December 2025. In roughly the year preceding the Dr. Carl & Partner merger, it integrated several other firms and business activities.

The addition of Munich-based Dr. Langenmayr & Partner mbB was announced on October 20, 2025. An announcement covering the activities of Monachia Treuhand-Gesellschaft mbH followed on March 20, 2026. Nuremberg's Neumüller & Partner mbB joined in July 2026, with that integration announced on September 10.

To accelerate its expansion, neo announced on December 1, 2025, that it had secured private corporate debt financing in the mid-double-digit million euro range. Montega Markets GmbH arranged the financing as lead arranger.
